This is a quality post war ghost story. A haunted house movie with a twist. A woman and her two children wait at home for their husband and father to return from war. The two children have a rare disease that prevents them from coming in contact with sunlight. This provides a controlled dark creepy atmosphere that carries throughout the film. The cast is small and there is only one film location. Nicole Kidman plays a neurotic mother. She has a look to her that just screams " I'M CRAZY " She pulls it off brilliantly. Her character is mean, controlling, and is played well, right on the edge of snapping and have a melt down at any point throughout the film. You feel nervous for the rest of the characters as they have to interact with her. Alakina Mann Plays the daughter who is smart and strong. The take on ghosts are original and spooky. The kids who see the ghosts are not scared of them but the mother is. She go hunting for the ghosts at one point with a double barrel shotgun. This is a good ghost story for anyone. Clean with minimal violence and gore. It has good scares and is a good story. I give it a 7.5 of 10. This a good one for a rainy day or stormy night. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a haunted house or ghost story.
