Halloween III (1982)

Updated: Sep 5, 2022

The black sheep of the Halloween franchise is worth seeing. Not having Michael Myers does not take anything away from this stand alone story. This movie has the unique backstory of a franchise that wanted to bail on it's original storyline to start creating separate stories for each film. That plan got scrapped after the first attempt, thus creating this strange entry to the ever expansive franchise. It plays out like a crime/drama/horror that starts the mystery in the opening scene. It stars Tom Atkins as the local doctor who gets swept up in the conspiracy surrounding halloween masks. Corporations are evil. The incredible make-up and effects will gross you out. This is one of the only films Tommy Lee Wallace has directed. The film is full of tension and moves along at a good pase. It is a countdown to halloween with mysterious deaths and strange men in black types running around killing people. I think this is a good one for anyone to watch as long as no one expects to see Michael Myers. I give this film a 7.5 out 10, I watch it regularly and it's good to get you into the holiday spirit. Check it out if you have not already.
