Inferno (1980)

Updated: Sep 5, 2022

Dario Argento is a legendary director known for his unique style and complex storytelling. This signature lighting and moody cinematography are all there. The story can be a little hard to follow, and it does not always seem to make sense. The film follows multiple characters at once, and the decisions the characters make are questionable. There is some gore, and while the blood is a little too red, the stabs and cuts look pretty good. It all centers around architecture, alchemy, and witchcraft. The cast is good. They all have a lot of acting experience between them and it shows. I do not recognize any of them because I have not seen a lot of Dario Argento movies or Italian films. This film may not be for everyone, it can be a little ambiguous. This is not a prototypical slasher by any means. Also the music does not always fit the scene it's in. It is not a movie for cat lovers and I would say it's not great for the casual horror fan. This is for people who can appreciate an art house movie. I give it a 5 of 10 because I love cats and don't love art house films. Watch this at your own risk.
