Killdozer (1974)

Updated: Sep 4, 2022

You probably guessed it when you read the title, killdozer is about a bulldozer that kills. This made for T.V. film is a mash-up between Maximum Overdrive and any fifties monster movie, same premise but scaled way down. It was directed by Jerry London who was directing a lot of very popular T.V. movies and shows in the seventies, eighties and nineties. He definitely knows what he is doing, though this film is pretty early in his career. The cast is all super experienced actors of the time like Neville Brad and Clint Walker. Seriously, there are only six men in the cast and each one has a packed resume. Is that enough to make a movie about a piece of construction equipment worth watching? Depends... do you like slow pace fifties style monster movies? Do you like movies with a goofy premise? If so, then yes, but if you don't like those things then you will likely find this film sort of dull. With a name like Killdozer I expected more dozer destruction, murder, and mayhem. If that is what you are looking for you will find it in an eighties film called Maximum Overdrive by Stephen King. That film does not disappoint. I give this film a 6 out of 10. It was a made for T.V. movie so of course it is going to be tame. It is well executed and fun with a pretty short run time at only about seventy three minutes. Could be worth checking out.
