A case for Terminator: The Terminator is a stalker movie about an eyebrowless machine played by an iconic looking Arnold Schwarzenegger. He is sent back in time to kill Sarah Conner who will one day give birth to the leader of the resistance that defeats the other eyebrowless machines. Sarah Conner is played by Linda Hamilton who has the most growth of any character in any story ever. She is being watched over by a man from the same future
who is much smaller than the Austrian death machine lead singer. The chase is on from the opening scene spreading violence and indiscriminate death, blurring the lines of action and horror. The terminator spends a scene repairing his arm and face in one of the most painful and just awesome looking special effect scenes. The robotic skeleton with the glowing red eyes is unique and so effective at sparking immediate fear. It all climaxes within the slasher formula by ending in a machine shop after hours. I give this a 10 of 10. It's a great blend of action and horror that has all the good tropes and can still surprise the viewer. I recommend this to anyone who can handle a fair bit of violence. At this point in time I doubt this would shock most horror fans but it would definitely impress them.
