The Hills Have Eyes (1977)

Updated: May 13, 2022

This gritty classic is one of Wes Cravens earliest works. It is the story of a family that gets stranded deep in a desert of Nevada when they are attacked by a mutilated inbred cannibal family. It is well filmed though it looks like a grind house film, and moves along steadily with a very talented cast. This move is full of violence, jump scares, gruesome subject matter, and heartbreaking hysterics.

We get to know the cannibal family who are all named after planets and are trying to survive as they become more secluded from the rest of the country. Micheal Berryman, James Whitworth and Lance Gordon play terrifying savage family. The whole cast is talented and it shows. If you can make it through the excruciating violence the journey is worth it. This movie is a solid 8 out of 10. I would recommend it to only the most enthused horror fan because of the gruesome violence. This movie is good but can be hard to watch in some scenes
