Cemetery Gates (2006)

Updated: Sep 5, 2022

This is clearly a low budget monster flick from an era when it was easy to retread old storylines or reuse the same creature over and over again. The most impressive thing about this movie is it stars Reggie Bannister from the "Phantasm" series, though there are a few other vaguely recognizable faces. A couple of activists unintentionally release a genetically modified tasmanian devil in the same cemetery as a blatantly stereotypical group of "college kids", and I use that term very loosely, are stopping by to shoot an even worse horror flick. Extremely bloody carnage ensues as soon as the creature is released. Just like any good B-style horror there is stuff in this movie that is super questionable and really reminds you that you're not suppose to take this seriously. What else is there to say, this is a good movie for anyone that appreciates cheesy movies. If B-movies have a formula this one follows it. I would recommend watching this with a group of friends. It's a 6.5 of 10 and one I will watch again. It was fun to watch the slightly unique story unfold.
