This creature feature opens in the fifties with a man being chased by an unseen horror. He seeks refuge with a neibor who refuses to help. But a young Ed Hardy gets a glimpse of the creature who will become know as pumpkin head. We flash to the future to establish the crap out of the perfect father son duo, when a group of teens show up and ruin everything by causing a fatal accident , isolated from help, the shop owner visits an old witch (haggis) living in a cozy tiny house in the middle of a swamp to summon Pumpkinhead to get revenge. Once Pumpkinhead begins its kill spree Ed Hardy (the summoner) learns has a strong physical connection to the creature.
He watches the killings through the pumpkinhead's eyes. He immidiatly regrets what he did and decides to try to kill pumpkinhead as he picks off the teens one by one, like a xenomorph at camp crystal lake. This movie looks good the cast is great. The witch played by Florence Schauffler is my favorite, she is so creepy and i love she has a pet owl. Ed Hardy played by Lance Henriksen who you might recognize from literally over 200 other moves.
The effects in film are practical and all look good. Pumpkinhead gets plenty of screen time and never looses its menecing presents. I would recomend this to anyone who wants to get into a moody monster movie. 8.5 out of 10 pumpkin head is unique in the way he toys with his victim before killing them.
